Modernisation of digital commerce platform

Joutsen, the producer of the world's cleanest and most sustainable down products, collaborated with IONA to modernise their ecommerce platform and empower its internal users to utilise the selected tools in a more efficient way.

Joutsen, an iconic Finnish brand, produces the world’s cleanest and sustainable down products, from pillows and duvets to down coats designed for harsh Nordic conditions. With their current ecommerce implementation approaching end-of-life and mobile traffic increasing, the company sought a partner to modernise the platform and empower its internal users to utilise the selected tools in a more efficient way.

The current implementation did not meet modern accessibility standards, and the online store was not fully optimised for mobile use. On the technical side, product setup and bugs caused issues with the premium customer experience that Joutsen is aiming for. For internal users, content updates were time-consuming and platform maintenance often required developer intervention.

From the outset, Joutsen was convinced that IONA understood the realities, including the limitations and challenges, faced by its ecommerce team. IONA assisted Joutsen with defining the renewal requirements, designing the user experience for the online store, incorporating the Joutsen look and feel and prioritising accessibility. For internal users, the platform modernisation represents a significant improvement, enabling faster content creation and updates as well more efficient product and campaign management, including discounts and other sales events.
