Kemppi
Composable content management as a first step in the composable journey
Kemppi, the global leader in the welding industry, renewed its global website with IONA, adopting a composable architecture to streamline omnichannel content management.

IONA has an advanced understanding of composable architecture. At the same time, they really listened to us and understood our needs, bringing our vision to life and delivering in both the back-end and front-end.

The project
To move on from a legacy tech stack and improve scalability and dealer support, Kemppi needed to modernise its digital presence. Their primary goals were centralising a vast body of product data, simplifying their website structure for customers, and providing better sales tools for their extensive dealer network.
IONA responded by relaunching Kemppi's global website on a modern, headless composable architecture using Contentful for content, a PIM system for product information, and a DAM system for digital assets.
“IONA presented an approach that would serve us well for years to come”, says Krista Kihlman, Digital Marketing Manager at Kemppi. This new solution provides the freedom to integrate future channels without restriction. A polished user experience and a new Product Selector tool help both customers and dealers navigate the complex offerings, streamlining sales and saving significant time through unified data management.

Key results
“The foundation we built together gives us the possibility in the future to improve and develop our digital channels”, says Krista. The teams are seeing a significant impact on workflows, such as streamlining process efficiency and managing product information. “The project has improved efficiency inside our company and brought our marketing and product management teams closer together, as they now work with the same platforms, like our PIM system.”
IONA continues to work with Kemppi to systematically develop the Kemppi website to match customers’ needs.
