Lappset, a creator inspiring playground and sports equipment for customers worldwide, worked with IONA to build a forward-thinking composable commerce strategy, transforming their digital channels into powerful assets that create more value for their global distributor network.

The project
With IONA, Lappset has transformed their digital commerce landscape into a strategic asset. Initially, IONA stepped in after Lappset ended their engagement with a previous vendor. The goal was to create robust, professional workflows needed to restart development and build momentum.
With development back on track, we shifted gears to a more strategic stance. After identifying points of improvement, we took practical actions such as further architecting Lappset’s composable technology stack and streamlining their infrastructure by supporting Lappset’s transition from a hybrid AWS/Azure environment to a unified Microsoft Azure cloud setup.
commercetools and Contentful are central to Lappset’s long-term composable strategy. We are realising Lappset’s target state in our continuous technology development at Lappset, building new features and business capabilities upon these key technologies.
As one example of our continuous development streams, we recently carried out a thorough discovery and definition project, comparing four shortlisted vendors before selecting Bluestone PIM as Lappset’s renewed Product Information Management system.
All this foundational work is part of an ongoing strategic partnership. We work closely with Lappset to advance their composable commerce maturity, simplifying and harmonising their digital channels to deliver a giant leap in customer experience and support their global growth.

Modern tech stack
We took Lappset’s architectural vision, hinging on commercetools and Contentful, forward: we unified Lappset’s cloud infrastructure on Azure, led a discovery project to select Bluestone PIM and continued to lead its implementation, designed a new integration layer on Microsoft Azure and defined how it connects with commercetools.
